NBA Coach Monitor, Latest Updates: Kings Hires Mike Brown;  The Lakers fired him to replace Frank Vogel

NBA teams are usually fast enough to make coaching changes. During the 2020-21 season and after the offseason, a total of nine teams made a change. Things have not been so active on the coaches’ front this year. So far, only three teams have started the process of getting a new coach.

The Sacramento Kings were the first. They fired Luke Walton at the start of the season and immediately replaced him with Alvin Gentry as a temporary fix. Neither did Walton Not even Gentry however, he managed to break the long-running drought of the Sacramento playoffs. Vivek Ranadive has now been replaced by Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown.

The Lakers missed the playoffs just two seasons after winning a championship, and while poor list building and injuries were largely to blame, Vogel took the fall.
